Slowly getting back...

Building our breeding stock from the ground up takes a little while. We expect to have Squaw Creek Shihpoos ready in 2023, so we've removed our contact information for the time being.

As I build my selected breeding stock, we will be selling those that we do not use including all male Shih Tzus 2021-2023.  You can check back for updates!

Butter's litter - 6 weeks

6 weeks! This is the week their confidence is shining through. They love to go in the yard for romping and playing with sticks and leaves. Our boxador, goose, comes alongside them and plays gently with them. They are gobbling up their cereal along with softened puppy food. They are drinking water from a bowl, and nursing. They are all 100% litter box trained! Even though they are no longer in their whelping box, and roaming their indoor kennel with their mama, no one has yet ventured outside. I keep waiting to find a puppy outside 😊

Butter's Litter - 4.5 weeks

Four and a half weeks! They are walking more steadily on their feet, hopping, argueing, playing with toys. We are starting to work on obstacles and barriers this week. We are placing different toys in their kennels every day and exposing them to sudden noises and *scary* things like bubble wrap!

They are loving their puppy formula and get huge round bellies after each meal. No one has ventured outside yet, though the door is open. One of these mornings I will go out and someone will be in the outdoor pen for the first time.

Don't they look different from last week!?

Butter's litter - 3.5 weeks

Three and a half weeks old! Soooo much has happened in one week. All four are stumbling/waddling around on their ever strengthening legs. Junior just popped right up with the best dexterity and walks very well for such a young age whereas Betty is still content to lay on her belly and pass the day away.

Their weaning formula is on it's way and they will get their first taste of solid food this week! There is growling and newly attempted barks sounding regularly from their pen, there is no mistaking their *awake* times now. Melt. My. Heart. They are giving kisses to the children during their social times, if that ain't the cutest thing EVer. They are not interested in toys, they remain a little apprehensive of their surroundings as they figure things out. Wake times are short and naps are long.

Now that they are walking, and after finding Mickey climbed outside the whelping box one afternoon, I decided it is time to remove it and prep their indoor kennel with carpet for a much expanded play area. I introduced them to the concept of a litter box today. Here's hoping they figure that out soon to make my job a little easier.

Here are their weights - Junior 1lb 6oz - Frances 1lb - Betty 1lb 7oz- Mickey 1lb 6oz

More puppies coming mid May!

Ivy was bred this week and we are hoping to see puppies around the middle of May, ready for homes mid July. Ivy is our smallest female so we expect her puppies to be no larger than 10lb at maturity. Ivy and Peanut can throw a myriad of colors so we anticipate the puppies' arrivals.

Buttercup's litter born 2/14, ready 4/11

Two and a half weeks old! They just their first nail trimming, next week their first deworming❤ Their little peepers are open and they are crawling around on thier bellies more and becoming more vocal. So now that they can see and hear, their whole world has changed.

Their weights are Betty - 1lb 2oz, Frances - 13oz, Junior - 1lb 2 oz and Mickey - 1lb 2oz, so pretty consistant there! All four are doing great, nursing well and they still sleep their days away.
